It has not been made to wait too long. If yesterday the Detroit Pistons officially announced that they had reached an agreement with DeAndre Jordan to terminate his contract, immediately afterwards it was the Los Angeles Lakers who announced the incorporation of the player. The pivot signs for a year and 2.6 million dollars equivalent to the minimum of veteran.
Jordan has already left his first statements as a member of the Los Angeles franchise assuring that his relationship with Irving and Durant will remain intact. With this acquisition, the Lakers already have three centers on the roster, in addition to being pending on Davis’ promise to play more minutes in that position. The move may be a market opportunity, but Jordan is coming to fill a role very similar to that of Dwight Howard, who has recently shown himself to be in much better shape than the former Nets.
DeAndre is going through the worst moment of his career after averaging just 7.5 points, the same rebounds and just over one block per night in 22 minutes. The yardstick in his case is Nash’s decision not to let him play a minute of the past playoffs. The Los Angeles franchise continues to fish in the veteran market and it seems more vice than necessity.
