It is noteworthy that the United States imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court and Attorney General Fatou Bensouda after the court launched investigations into possible war crimes committed in Afghanistan at the hands of Afghan security forces, “Taliban” and American forces alike.
The United States, which is not considered a member of this court, considered this decision a “violation” of its national sovereignty.
The United States has also opposed investigations into possible war crimes in the Palestinian territories, including by Israeli forces.
