In Portland they have decided to hang the clearance sale poster exactly two weeks after the market closes. Without Damian Lillard until at least March and with a 20-28 record that puts them on the edge of play-in, the Blazers are aware that this season they have not been and will not be competitive.
Therefore, the Oregon franchise is expected to be very active in the market until next February 10th. As reported by the media Bleacher Report, the Blazers are considering a major roster facelift and have put CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Norman Powell and Robert Covington on the starting ramp.
While it remains to be seen how big the changes will be, it seems clear that the Blazers will try to at least free up enough salary to avoid the luxury tax.
However, the four players mentioned have a good poster within the NBA, so there should be no shortage of offers for any of them. In fact, Covington has already piqued the interest of at least the Jazz, Timberwolves and Cavaliers.
