The Russian “TASS” agency, quoting the Russian spokeswoman for the theater, Katerina Novikova, reported that the “Bolshoi” will perform 20 concerts from December 22 to January 6.
She said that it has been a long tradition for the ballet “The Nutcracker” to top the billboard in 2021 for the “Bolshoi” theater.
And, Novikova recalled that the ballet “The Nutcracker” was written by the genius Russian composer, Piotr Tchaikovsky in 1891, based on one of the stories of the French writer, Alexander Dumas, the father who in turn borrowed it from the novel “The Nutcracker” and the King of Mice, by Ernst Hoffmann.
It was shown for the first time in 1892 at the Theater of the Imperial Opera House in Petersburg. It is one of the most important classical performances of the “Bolshoi” ballet, which was first presented by director Yuri Grigorovich on March 12, 1966, and since that time it is presented annually in December and January to celebrate the New Year with the same designs Its artistic elements such as decorations, clothes, costumes and music, to preserve its character.
She pointed out that ballet tickets were sold with lightning speed, despite the restrictions imposed by the Moscow authority on theaters due to the spread of the Corona virus epidemic.
