The Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu), in coordination with the subsidiary company of the Federal electricity commission (CFE), CFE Telecommunications and Internet for All (CFE TEIT), established 70 free internet access points in works built through the Urban Improvement Program (PMU) in 11 municipalities in the country.
It is estimated that this agreement will benefit more than 965,000 people in Baja California (Tijuana), Campeche (Campeche and Seybaplaya), State of Mexico (Chalco and Texcoco), Jalisco (Puerto Vallarta), Morelos (Ayala), Nayarit (Bahía de Banderas). ), Quintana Roo (Solidarity), Tabasco (Nacajuca) and Yucatan (Progress).
The Sedatu, led by Roman Meyer Falcon, formalized with CFE Telecommunications and Internet for All the provision of equipment for the provision of access to the free internet service considering the transportation, distribution and installation of technological equipment in public spaces and equipment carried out by the Urban Improvement Program.
The network in these spaces is named CFE Internet and it has 4.5 G broadband for fixed internet use with indoor coverage and high-speed data transmission.
It should be noted that from April to December 2021, the Sedatu signed agreements with the beneficiary municipalities and it was agreed that CFE Telecommunications and Internet for All will provide the equipment; meanwhile, the municipal governments are responsible for the protection and care for its proper functioning, reported the CFE.
