Beijing announced, today, Wednesday, that Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a “message of sympathy” to the Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, after he and his wife, Asma Al-Assad, were infected with the Corona virus, which causes Covid-19 infection.
In his message, according to the official Chinese agency “Xinhua”, Xi said that he and his wife, Peng Liyuan, express their sympathy to President Al-Assad and his wife and wish them a speedy recovery.
“The Chinese government and people firmly support the anti-pandemic efforts made by the Syrian government and people,” Xi stressed.
In the message, the Chinese president expressed his conviction that “the Syrian people will surely overcome Covid-19 under the leadership of President Al-Assad.”
Last Monday, the Syrian presidency announced that Bashar and Asma al-Assad had been infected with the new Corona virus, and made clear that their “condition is stable,” adding that they would “continue their work during the home quarantine period” that lasts for two or 3 weeks.
On Tuesday, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that if there is any request for help in treating the Syrian president and his wife, of course, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, will immediately consider it.
