(CNN) —British actor Julian Sands, known for his work in series such as “24” and films such as “A Room with a View”, was found dead after his disappearance in January in the San Gabriel mountains, southern California, reported the authorities this Tuesday.

Search-and-rescue teams trying to find Sands are facing bad weather and an avalanche threat, making efforts difficult, according to authorities.

As the search for Sands turns 11 days old, the San Bernardino County Sheriff shares a statement from his family.
“Our heartfelt thanks to the compassionate members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department who are coordinating the search for our beloved Julian, as well as the heroic search teams listed below who are braving the difficult conditions on the ground. and air to bring Julian home,” the statement said.
Sands’s family said they were “deeply moved” by the support they have received in the days since her disappearance.

Nick Sands, the older brother of Julian Sands, told a British magazine that he knew “deep in his heart that” the actor “was gone” as California authorities continued to search for him.
“He hasn’t been declared missing yet, but I know in my heart that he’s gone,” said Nick Sands. “However, knowing sibling rivalry for what it is, it would be like him showing up to prove me wrong,” he added.
