The executive director of the Russian “Technology Machinstroeni” company, Alexander Kochkin, said that the engineers and military experts participating in the test had recommended the leadership of the Russian National Guard and the Russian army to use the new grenade launcher in their units.
The 40-mm “Balkan, AgS-40” grenade launcher will replace the “Plamia” and “AGS-30” 30 mm grenade launchers in Russian army units. Increasing the caliber by 10 centimeters enabled Russian engineers to raise the firing range by 25% to 2,500 meters. As for the strength of the ammunition, it increased twice.
According to information reported by the official media, the “Balkan” grenade launcher munitions include two types of bombs, one of which is the “7B39” fragmentation bomb and the second is the “VKO-25” hollow bomb. The last bomb can penetrate 200 mm of armor and 400 mm of concrete.
