Sherine Abdel Maqsoud, who suffers from elephantiasis, breathed her last Thursday evening at her home in the village of Bir Shams of Al-Bagour Center in Menoufia Governorate, affected by the repercussions of her illness.
Dr. Faisal Judeh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Menoufia, confirmed in statements to the Egyptian newspaper, Al-Watan, that Sherine received the first part of her treatment inside the Brain and Nerves Hospital in Shebin al-Kom, and was discharged from the hospital a while ago, and was preparing to complete the rest of the treatment periods during the coming period, but fate did not allow her. She passed away on Thursday.
Sherine’s weight reached 350 kg, where she appealed to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to treat her at the expense of the state, stressing that she could not move due to her excess weight, as well as her affliction with many diseases.
In December 2020, Sisi directed that she be treated at the expense of the state, and that all aspects of medical care be provided for her.
