The Egyptian Olympic Committee announced, on Saturday, the suspension of all tournaments held in closed halls, until further notice, due to the high number of new infections with the Corona virus emerging in Egypt.
According to the committee, holding any gatherings of sports teams or camps will be suspended except in the event that all precautionary measures are taken and the “closed capsule” system is used for the players residing in the camp or gathering.
The “closed capsule” system includes the Handball World Cup, which will be held in Egypt next January, while it does not apply to the local handball, basketball and volleyball tournaments.

Also, according to the statement, the federation must deliver the swabs to all participants in the event, including players, technicians, administrators and referees, provided that the swabs are made through approved bodies, in order to limit the spread of the Corona virus.
On Friday, the daily death toll from Coronavirus in Egypt exceeded the 1,000 mark, for the second consecutive day, after it remained in the hundreds for months.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the registration of 1,133 new cases of the virus, up from 1,021, on Thursday, and 49 deaths, down from 51 the previous day.
