Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The UAE mission, “Probe of Hope”, to explore Mars is one of the most important local projects in the history of the UAE and the Arab region, as the project aspires to provide the first integrated picture of the atmosphere of Mars.
The mission is scheduled to reach Mars orbit on February 9, after it was one of the 3 missions launched from Earth last July, along with NASA’s “Perseverance” vehicle and the Chinese “Tianwen 1” mission. .
The Hope Probe will orbit the planet, while Tianwen 1 will orbit and land on the planet, and Perseverance will land on Mars.
The probe, along with its 3 scientific instruments, is expected to document the first complete picture of the Martian atmosphere, as the instruments will collect various data points on the atmosphere to measure seasonal and daily changes as well. This information will provide scientists with an insight into the dynamics of climate and weather in different layers of the Martian atmosphere.
The “Hope Probe” is considered one of the first missions that will reach Mars. The UAE Space Agency will participate in live coverage to follow up on the arrival of the probe on its website, starting at 10:30 am ET on February 9th.
Upon the arrival of the spacecraft, the “Probe of Hope” will make the UAE the fifth country in history to reach the red planet.
