© Reuters. Euro rises after US job creation figures, but falls again
Frankfurt (Germany), Dec 3 (.) .- The euro appreciated this Friday after the publication of job creation figures in the US, but has lost positions again until falling below $ 1.13 .
The euro was trading at around 16:00 GMT at $ 1.1280, compared to $ 1.1318 in the last hours of the European currency market trading the previous day.
The European Central Bank (ECB) set the benchmark exchange rate for the euro at $ 1.1291.
The unemployment rate in the US fell in November to 4.2%, the first time in almost two years that it was below that registered at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, when it was 4.4%, although the job creation figures continue to disappoint.
Job creation was lower than expected and stood at 210,000 new jobs, compared to the forecasts of most analysts that more than 500,000 jobs would be created.
ECB President Christine Lagarde told the conference “Reuters Next (LON 🙂 “which will provide further guidance on monetary policy at the mid-December meeting.
Lagarde was convinced that the emergency debt purchase program for the pandemic will conclude at the end of March next year and said that the ECB has more instruments.
The single currency was exchanged in a fluctuation band between 1.1267 and 1.1333 dollars.
