The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Intelligence confirmed that the initial data “suggest” that one of the hackers of US government websites is of “Russian origins.”
“The investigations are currently focusing on four important axes, which are identifying victims, gathering evidence, analyzing evidence to determine further attribution, and sharing the results with the government and the private sector to defend the network,” the Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.
He added, “National Security Council employees have formed a UCG working group, whose task is to coordinate the investigation and address the major cyber incident affecting the federal government networks.”
He continued: “Preliminary data indicate that one of the perpetrators is of Russian origin, and is responsible for most or all of the newly discovered penetrations of all governmental and non-governmental networks.”
He stressed that the team continues to take all necessary measures to investigate, process and share information with our partners and the American people.
He noted, “The creation of a free tool to detect any unusual and possibly harmful activity related to this incident,” noting that “additional information, including settlement indicators, will be announced as soon as it becomes available.”
The office confirmed that “less than 10 US government agencies are among those affected by the breach of Microsoft’s” Solar Windows “system.
