Today, Sunday, the Russian health authorities announced the registration of the first home-made examination system for diagnosing infections with the British strain of the emerging corona virus.
And the head of the federal health watchdog, Ala Samoilova, confirmed that the new system can diagnose two mutations associated with the British strain of SARS-CoV-2 by means of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
In a statement posted on the authority’s website, Samoilova indicated that the new examination system was developed by the Kulakov National Center for Research of Midwifery, Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine affiliated to the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the “DNA Technologies” company, confirming that it showed high efficacy during the tests.
The official stressed that developing the first Russian system to diagnose the British ancestry and putting it on the market is a great success for Russian scientists.
In December, the British authorities were forced to reshape the restrictions aimed at curbing the outbreak of the Corona virus, after the outbreak of the new strain was detected in parts of England, including the capital, London.
And the new strain, which is more likely to spread, has since spread to dozens of countries.
