The Atlanta Hawks’ season is not meeting the expectations generated after reaching the Conference Finals last year. With the aim of reversing the situation, the Georgia franchise recently traded Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks and they are expected to make some more moves in the coming weeks.
According to the journalist Bleacher Report Jake Fischer, the Hawks are being very active in seeking the transfer of John Collins before the market closes on February 10. In fact, the middle The Athletic reported two weeks ago of the existence of negotiations between the Hawks and 76ers for Ben Simmons.
The power forward has shared on several occasions his disagreement with his role in attack and would be looking for a new team that would offer him a more decisive and defined role. Still, Collins and Hawks closed on a five-year, $125 million renewal this past summer.
Collins is putting up some solid numbers this season, rising to 17.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists, shooting 53.7% from the field and 42.6% on three-pointers. However, the Hawks sit in twelfth place in the Eastern Conference despite winning their last four games. And the goals of the franchise are much more ambitious than settling for the play-in.
