The new head of the Libyan Presidency Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, said today, Saturday, that he had received an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Turkey as soon as possible.
This came during a phone call the exiled received from Erdogan, according to a statement issued by the media office of the President of the Presidency Council.
The statement added that Erdogan “congratulated the exile on formally carrying out their work and winning the national unity government confidence from the House of Representatives,” stressing “the depth of bilateral relations between Turkey and Libya.”
Last Tuesday, the exiled and Prime Minister Abd al-Hamid al-Dabaiba formally received power from the President of the Presidency Council of the “National Accord” government, Fayez al-Sarraj, during a ceremony held at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli.
On February 5, the UN-sponsored Political Dialogue Forum elected a unified executive authority, which includes a government headed by Dabaiba and a presidential council headed by exile, to lead the country to parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled for next December 24.
