The IMF congratulates Ilan Goldfajn as the new president of the Inter-American Development Bank

The director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, congratulated Ilan Goldfajn on his election as president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and will begin “immediately” to look for his successor as head of the IMF for Latin America, according to a statement released on Monday. .

Goldfajn took a leave of absence as director of the IMF’s Latin America Department on October 24, after the Brazilian government nominated him for the presidency of the IMF. BID.

“Ilan’s leadership was instrumental in helping Latin American countries implement IMF-supported programs” to address the impacts of unprecedented challenges and shape policies on climate change in the region, which have led to the first resilience and sustainability fund, Georgieva said.
