Indian President Ram Nath Covind told a joint session of Parliament today, Friday, that his country has reinforced its military forces along its disputed border in the Himalayas with China.
“My government is fully committed to protecting the interests of the country and vigilantly,” Covind said in a speech in which he outlined the governance priorities for this year, indicating that additional forces had been deployed to protect Indian sovereignty over the Latin America and Caribbean region.
And a senior Indian official announced last September that Indian forces had deployed on 4 strategic mountain peaks after what New Delhi described as a Chinese incursion across the disputed border in the Himalayas.
There has been a confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces for months in the Ladakh region in the western Himalayas, and the two sides have been fighting over the borders for more than half a century.
