Monterey, NL. The Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Caintra) from New Lion assured that it will provide 20 million cubic meters of water per year, to help resolve the water crisis in the state, with short, medium and long-term projects, said Rodrigo Fernández Martínez, president of the organization.

This was one of the issues that some businessmen from Caintra Nuevo Leon They spoke with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, “who was receptive and appointed some officials to work together,” said Fernández Martínez.

The leader of the industrial New Lion commented that they contemplate the shallow well reactivationas well as participating in the drilling of deep wells in the longer term, because they require more time to extract water.

Regarding the investment that they will make in the execution of these projects, Fernández Martínez said: “just as I tell you that to solve this we all have to get involved, in the industry we are extremely committed and I would like to tell you that no matter how much water we consume, what what matters is how we can help to contribute to this lack of water that we are experiencing”.

He commented that it is a continuous process in which they work to find solutions, some companies have concessions available and are temporarily ceding those wells, others have helped restore wells that were neglected, and one more commented that it could have two wells to provide water.

How many companies have been affected by the reduction of water? He replied that it depends on the day (when they have to close the supply after 9 in the morning), “we are seeing how we get out of this crisis, the focus is to look for other projects to see how we can help reduce the shortage of the vital liquid “.

The leader emphasized that due to the lack of investment in public infrastructure in recent years, this caused 3 out of 10 liters of drinking water to be wasted in leaks or clandestine intakes.

Presidential work status

Regarding the search for solutions to supply water to the Monterrey metropolitan area, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda explained that he was in Mexico City this Tuesday, April 5, and went to the offices of Banobras, Fonadin, Conagua and the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) to follow up on the agreements with the President of the Republic on the Libertad dam and other projects.

“The liberty dam It acquires the status of a presidential project, so to speak, a priority like the Mayan Train, that will help us streamline and speed up procedures and payments that are required to finish (the work) next year,” said the governor.

On the other hand, the president obtained the water rights of the Potosí River, a tributary that will supply the Libertad Dam and from there it will reach the Monterrey Metropolitan Areaby channeling it through the infrastructure of the Cerro Prieto Dam.

However, “from today the water from that river — with strong and large investments — we are going to connect it to the aqueduct that comes from Cerro Prieto and all that water is going to come to the city of Monterrey,” Samuel García stressed. .

The Potosí River rises in Cerro El Potosí in New Lion and then it joins the Pablillo River, acquires the name of Río Conchos, on the border of Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, then passes through the municipality of San Fernando, from where it takes that name. It has an extension of 400 kilometers and empties into the Gulf of Mexico.
