The INE adjusts its budget for 2023 due to a cut of 4,475 million pesos

The Temporary Budget Committee of the National Electoral Institute (INE) approved the adjustment to the budget for the 2023 financial year made by the technical areas of the electoral authority, in accordance with the amount approved by the Chamber of Deputies for next year.

The adjustment in said commission was supported by the directors Claudia Zavala, Norma De la Cruz, Carla Humphrey, Ciro Murayama and Jaime Rivera. Now the analysis will correspond to the Executive General Board and later the General Council.

After the reduction of 4,475 million 501,178 pesos made by the Chamber of Deputies to the Draft presented by the INE, the Institute budget for next year it will be 13,987 million 856,773 pesos: 11,546.4 million pesos of the base budget and 2,441.4 million pesos of the institutional portfolio of projects.

The Legislative cut does not modify the amount assigned to the prerogatives of political parties, therefore, the resources considered in the Federation Expenditure Budget for this item it is the same as the one sent in the Draft: 6,233 million 510,798 pesos. In other words, the reduction made by the Chamber of Deputies is fully absorbed by the INE.

The reduction affected, among other items, the precautionary budget for a possible Referendum set at 4,025 million 422,288 pesos, which will not be used because, as of last November 30, the assumption of this participation exercise was not updated.

As a consequence of the reduction, the INE must attend with different measures the spending pressure for 537.8 million pesos, an amount which includes the projects for the extraordinary election of a senate under the principle of Relative Majority in Tamaulipas.

INE postpones real estate infrastructure project

In order to attend to the aforementioned spending pressure, the Institute will postpone the real estate infrastructure project that considered an amount of 305 million 540 thousand pesos and the adjustment will be made to several projects that the areas of the Institute reconsidered, with which a decrease in their costs was achieved. amounts for the sum of 8 million 944,612 pesos. The foregoing adds up to a total of 314 million 484,612 pesos.

Likewise, part of the budget deficit derives from the fact that the extraordinary election of a senatorial office by the principle of Relative Majority in Tamaulipas was not considered in the Draft Budget 2023, since it was convened by the Senate on November 30, and An additional amount of 87 million 731,058 pesos is required, which will add to the spending pressure of the Institute.

In accordance with the adjustment proposal, the INE savings goal will be absorbed in chapters 2000 and 3000 for the concepts of materials, office supplies, leases, parking, telephone service, electricity, among others, for a sum of 96 million 655,885 pesos, additional to personal services, without affecting the substantive operation and compliance with institutional obligations, for 126 million 669,451 pesos.

With the above, it seeks to face the spending pressure of the electoral body for the year 2023 which, after the budget cut, is 223 million 325,336 pesos.
