The INEHRM will turn 70 since its creation

In this 2023 the National Institute of Historical Studies of the Revolutions of Mexico (INEHRM) will celebrate 70 years since its creation, in August 1953, as the institution in charge of promoting the dissemination, reflection and research of national history and culture, as well as as the historical heritage of the country.

In this anniversary year, the essential commemorations in which the INEHRM will take a central role will be the centenary of the death of the caudillo Francisco Villa and the 110 years of the Tragic Decena, according to information from the federal Ministry of Culture.

The report details that during 2022 the INEHRM carried out 139 academic, artistic and cultural activities, as well as incorporated a total of 56 published titles into its editorial collections, while in terms of collections, last year it added 715 books or magazines to the Biblioteca de the Revolution of Mexico for a total sum of 89 thousand 395 protected copies, and in the photographic collection work an inventory of 8 thousand 647 was carried out, the cataloging of 5 thousand 640 and the digitalization of 10 thousand 262 images.

For 2022, the INEHRM, dependent on the federal Ministry of Culture, operated with a budget of 33.7 million pesos, while for this 2023 the institute will have a budget of 35.4 million, just above inflation in real terms. .

The INEHRM was founded on August 29, during the six-year term of Adolfo Ruiz Cortines, as a decentralized body of the Ministry of the Interior. In 2010 it became a decentralized body of the Ministry of Public Education and in 2015, after the creation of the Ministry of Culture, the INEHRM became dependent on the latter.
