A snapshot of the Iraq-Kuwait match today
The Iraqi national team overturned a goal in front of its Kuwaiti guest, to a 2-1 victory in the friendly match that brought them together today, Wednesday, at the Basra International Stadium in Basra Governorate, in the far south of Iraq.
The Kuwaiti national team opened the scoring door in the 22nd minute through Eid Al-Rashidi from an elaborate header, before the Iraqi team rose up in the final minutes of the match and scored two consecutive goals, bearing the signature of substitute Muhammad Daoud Yassin in the 79th minute, and Ayman Hussein in the 89th minute from a penalty kick.
The friendly match was part of the teams’ preparations for the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the Asian Cup in China 2023.
