The Israeli army emphasized that coordination with the Russian military over Syria is of strategic importance for Israel.
“We have a mechanism for tactical coordination and avoiding a clash with the Russian military, and it works very well, and we have a hotline that always works, and we consider that all of this is of strategic importance,” Israeli army spokesman Jonathan Conricus said in a statement to the Russian news agency.
He indicated that the Israeli army takes into account the security of the Russian military cadres in Syria.
On February 10, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz phoned his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu.
He wrote on Twitter that he discussed with the Russian minister “the continuation of the important dialogue between Russia and Israel with the aim of ensuring the security of the military,” in addition to discussing humanitarian efforts in the region and combating terrorism.
