Peskov added, according to the channel’s website, “He said that he would receive the vaccination. He took this decision and is awaiting the completion of all formalities.”
Russia launched a program to vaccinate those interested in the home-made (Sputnik) vaccine in December, starting with the people most at risk of contracting the virus.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his website today, Sunday, that people over the age of 60 can apply for the vaccination from Monday. This comes after the Ministry of Health announced yesterday that the vaccine had been approved for use by the elderly after a separate trial.
And Putin, who is 68 years old, had said earlier that the Russian vaccine is effective and safe and that he does not see a reason not to receive it, adding that he is waiting for it to become available.
Putin has been practicing his work mainly remotely since the outbreak of the Corona virus in Russia, where he holds meetings via video links and has limited travel.
He said in August that his daughter had participated in the clinical trial of the vaccine.
