United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Kremlin responded to Elon Musk’s invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin, to join him in a conversation on the Clubhouse social networking application, describing the invitation as “interesting”, and explaining that he would need to obtain more details.
The CEO of Tesla had sent a tweet to the Kremlin’s official Twitter account, inquiring whether the Russian president would like to join him in a conversation on the audio-only app.
In a call on Monday, Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters: “In general, this is definitely a very interesting proposal, but we need to understand what is meant, and what exactly is proposed. So first, we will verify all this in some way, then we will respond We want to understand it first. You know that Putin does not use social networks, he does not personally manage them. “
Peskov’s comments came in response to a tweet by Musk in which he wrote: “Do you want to join me for a conversation on the Clubhouse?” Then he followed it with another tweet in Russian in which he wrote: “It is a great honor to talk to you.”
Musk’s move comes shortly after the CEO first appeared on the popular social chat app, which can be accessed by private invitation only. Musk’s chat on the app included various topics from funny “memes” to cryptocurrencies, and even a surprise discussion with Robin Hood CEO Vlad Teneff, after the recent “Game Stop” frenzy.
