The labor inspection “is the great forgotten” in the reform to the Federal Labor Law of 2019and even, the gender perspective has been left aside, since there is an institutional absence due to lack of budgets.

The foregoing was evidenced in the presentation of the document Labor Inspection and Gender Perspective. Ideas for an Inclusive Transformation, where magistrate Héctor Mercado stated that for the reform to be fulfilled it is necessary to comply with three aspects: unions, courts, and inspection, the latter “I know that it has been forgotten.”

According to the author, German Reyes Gaytan, after reviewing various inspection programs, including reforming the regulations in August 2022, “a particular public policy regarding monitoring compliance with labor regulations was not detected; in addition to the evident institutional absence of the gender perspective”.

He also said that with the recent presentation of the Voluntary Labor Verification Program (Velavo) of the Secretary of Labor, it must be analyzed that it has a gender perspective.

For her part, Claudia Dominguez, a UACM researcher, commented that the document makes visible the inequality between men and women, in addition to helping to analyze the importance of inspection.

Meanwhile, the deputy Jesus Baldenebro, president of the Labor Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, promised to review the legislative aspects that allow promoting a change in the inspection, since the proposal is that there be an institution in charge for it, ” and that requires a budget.”

At the same time, Inés González, argued that in the short term the regulations have to be reviewed, given that “the transformation from the gender perspective of the labor inspection, will allow us to know the gender gaps that have been sustained over time .

In this sense, the author Germán Reyes Gaytan said that it is essential that public policy incorporate labor inspection into the agenda.
