Veteran Italian Gianluigi Buffon, Juventus soccer goalkeeper, has revealed that he plans to put an end to his professional career by June 2023, but has not ruled out the possibility of retiring at the end of the season.
Buffon said in an interview with “The Guardian”: “In my thinking, there is a maximum time limit for the suspension, which is June 2023.”
The veteran goalkeeper, aged 43, added: “This is the maximum date ever, but I might stop in four months.”
Buffon, the 2006 World Cup winner with Italy, had previously said in 2017 that he would retire the following year, but then moved to the French Paris Saint-Germain team for one year, before returning to Juventus in 2019, and his contract with the “old lady” expires in Next June, no agreement has yet been reached to extend the contract with the Italian champion.
