What could happen in Mexico if on Monday, June 3, 2024, the electoral results of the previous day are not credible because the National Electoral Institute did not have the economic capacity to organize a reliable voting day as it has always done?

That is part of the commitment of the so-called Plan B. Endorsing or rejecting from the presidential power the result given the evidence that the electoral authority was unable to provide certainty. All provoked, of course, from that same autocratic power.

There is so much at stake today for the democratic, political, economic, social future, and in general for the viability of this country, that all the differences that those who support the democratic life of Mexico have had must see it as a lesser evil. .

It was this open move by the López Obrador regime to gain control of the electoral bodies, the elections and their results, which should maintain this clean slate after the betrayal of Alejandro Moreno and other legislators who were united to break the block legislative opponent.

Everything has happened very quickly from the moment that López Obrador decided to go for all power, with the starting signal for that Sunday march.

At that speed, the regime tried and failed in its plan to modify the Constitution to achieve that electoral power that it longs for and is in the process of doing what it has already achieved before, that through modifying secondary laws they can bypass the Magna Carta to carry out the President’s orders.

Movimiento Ciudadano and other leftist groups, which for decades have fought for democracy, should understand that allying with Va por México in opposition to the so-called Plan B, but also in the upcoming electoral processes, may imply a higher cause at this time. Mexican politician.

Today Ricardo Monreal, senator from Morena, is going to define his political future the moment he lets go or stops the corrections to the legislative blunders of the obedient presidential deputies.

What we see right now in the political life of the country is totally unprecedented, we had never witnessed before in Mexico an authoritarian attempt as clear as the one that is underway today. Even the old PRI took care of the forms in his overwhelming control.

The polarization, social division and the attempts to seize all power by any means possible by the 4T can lead to the incompatibility of the electoral platforms of the parties taking second place to the common cause of defending democracy. .

Political tension can generate financial tension and further deteriorate mistrust in this economy and surely a more radical reaction from the ruling party can be generated that will complicate the months and years to come.

But to the extent that there is full understanding of the shift that the regime took in terms of respect for democratic rules, there may be an opposition unit that forms a broader and more participatory bloc with a view, first, to defend the legal order of this country.

And then, if personal and group ambitions allow it, attend to the country’s political priorities in the face of threats that are no longer hidden.
