The Orlando Magic will start the 2021-22 season on October 21 at the San Antonio Spurs court without two of their main players. As reported by the journalist from The Athletic Josh Robbins, Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz will not be ready for, at the very least, the opening game of the course.
Internal Magic policy is reluctant to set and share specific deadlines or return dates for players recovering from injury. However, sources from Robbins suggest that the team will be very cautious with Isaac and Fultz, so they will extend their rehabilitation until they are completely sure that they can reappear without any risk.
“Both guys have been relentless in their approach,” President of Operations Jeff Weltman said of the two players. “They have been working daily and they look great. But I will not give more details about the deadlines. Right now they continue to make good progress. “
Fourteen months have passed since Isaac’s ACL injury during his participation in the Orlando bubble. For his part, Fultz underwent surgery to repair a similar injury nine months ago, so the forward aims to return before his teammate.
The Magic will also not be able to count on Michael Carter-Williams in the first commitment of the course, so the base tasks will fall on the young Jalen Suggs and Cole Anthony.
