The march of the grateful carriers; carried but happy

The morenistas have no reason to be angry that Sunday’s march is called the march of the transported, this word is synonymous with those transported, something that they cannot deny, not only because of the number of trucks that were in the surroundings, but because The only way people from all over the country could get to Mexico City was through transportation provided by the state governments.

Beyond the fact that they were carried, what became clear during the march is that they were not forced to come, but rather they did it of their own free will, during the walk they were partying and showed indisputable support for López Obrador. In the different interviews that took place during the walk, people expressed their gratitude to the president for the support received through his social programs.

For me that is the great lesson of the march, the people support López Obrador because he has dedicated himself to supporting the people. They don’t care, if the economy, insecurity, corruption and the fight against poverty go badly, for the people the only important thing is that they continue to be supported with social programs.

That is why we should not be surprised by the surveys that show that his popularity is maintained, even if they think that the economy, security, and corruption are going badly, they support him because the social programs are, in many cases, the only income they have received. in the midst of the pandemic, the economic crisis and inflation.

On the other hand, many of the people who came to the march and many of the supporters of López Obrador are convinced that if the opposition wins, the scholarships for young people and the support for the elderly, the disabled, peasants, and single mothers will disappear. .

In the morning, López Obrador often remembers that the PAN voted against including these programs in the constitution and surely it is something that the nation’s servants repeat every day to the population that benefits from these supports. According to the president, 30 million families receive these benefits, families that will continue to support the president as long as this is not clarified.

I think, and I have said it on several occasions, that the opponents waste too much time criticizing the president and little or nothing, in making a strategy to win in 2024. As long as people continue to think that if the opposition wins, those programs and supports will disappear, there is no way to beat López Obrador or Morena.

It is urgent that the four opposition parties make a public commitment to the citizens and especially to the beneficiaries, that if they win these programs they will not only not end, but they will be strengthened and their amount will increase based on, at least of inflation. They must also commit that they will return: Seguro Popular, the Progresa program, day care centers, full-time schools and other programs that this government has eliminated.

With the march of López Obrador it became clear why people support him, not because of his leadership or closeness to the people, the support they give him is mainly in gratitude because every two months they receive financial support in his name, but above all because they are afraid that if he or his party loses, that support will disappear.
