Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser called on residents to move away from the city center on Tuesday and Wednesday, due to the upcoming demonstrations in support of outgoing President Donald Trump.
In a tweet via Twitter, Boozer wrote: “I call on Washington residents and those living in the area to stay away from the city center on Tuesday and Wednesday, and not to deal with the demonstrators who come to our city in search of confrontation.”
She added, “We will do our duty to ensure the demonstrations are peaceful.”
The Washington authorities announced a mobilization of the National Guard forces 48 hours before the demonstration in support of President Trump.
According to Monday’s reports, forces were mobilized in the US capital about 48 hours before the protest, scheduled for Wednesday, January 6, the day when Congress will vote to endorse Democratic candidate Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.
