The GCC Ministers of Transport and Communications – members of the Ministerial Committee for Transport and Communications – approved today, Sunday, the timetable for the founding phase of the Gulf Railways Authority.
The approval of the program came during the extraordinary meeting of the Gulf Transport Ministers, which was held via video conference, headed by Saudi Arabia.

The delegation of the State of Qatar was headed by the Minister of Transportation Jassim bin Saif Al SulaitiThe meeting discussed the implementation of the decision of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in its 42nd session, approving the establishment of the Gulf Railways Authority.
The documents related to the Gulf Railways Authority and the timetable for starting its work were also discussed, and the necessary steps were agreed upon during the founding phase, which extends for 12 months.
The establishment of the Gulf Railways Authority comes with the aim of coordinating among the member states to follow up the implementation and operation of the GCC railway project as a single integrated and interoperable regional railway.
It also links all member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council with efficient and safe railway operations and cooperates with the national railway networks in the GCC countries.
