Today, Sunday, Turkish police arrested the politician Umar Faruk Gurgirlioglu of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Istanbul, after he staged a sit-in in Parliament, refusing to leave for days.
Dozens of police officers were seen entering Parliament, before they left, escorting Gargirlioglu to the outside, after his refusal to leave the building since he was stripped of his membership as a legislator and his immunity was lifted on Wednesday.
For its part, the HDP announced that nearly 100 police officers entered Parliament on Sunday to arrest Gurgirlioglu.
The arrest of Garrelioglu was followed by further arrests of 20 HDP officials in the Friday night raids.
