The Moscow Stock Exchange it plunged almost 12% this Monday at the open, after a series of bombings in several cities of Ukraine after the partial destruction of the Crimean bridge, last Saturday.
The main index Moex (in rubles) was down 11.9% at 07:03 GMT to 1,780.39 points, falling below the 1,800-point threshold for the first time since February 24.
At 08:30 GMT, the Moex had come back, to stand at 1,867.90 points (-3.95%).
The RTS index (in dollars) fell 13% to 909.26 points at the open, but by 08:30 GMT it had risen to 943.79 points (-6.09%).
This collapse comes after an intense campaign of bombing that hits Ukraine after the partial destruction on Saturday of the bridge linking the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, with Russian territory.
The ruble, which has strengthened in recent months, was also lower against the dollar and the euro, around one dollar for 62.9 rubles at 10:50 GMT.
For its part, the action of the oil company Gazprom collapsed and lost 25% due to an exceptional dividend of more than 21,000 million dollars, announced at the end of September by the energy giant.
