The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Shawqi Allam, strongly condemned the Israeli forces ‘ban on raising the call to prayer in the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, today, Friday, under the pretext of settlers’ celebration of Purim with the Jews.
The Mufti also denounced in a statement issued today, Friday, “the repeated incursions of hundreds of Israeli settlers into Palestinian mosques, especially the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the protection of the occupation police, and the performance of their Talmudic rituals and prayers inside it, which led to an increase in tension in the mosque, in addition to a series of repressive measures. It was taken by the occupation authorities in recent days against the occupied city of Jerusalem, “calling for” the necessity of applying the principles of international law to stop the occupation authorities’ ban on holding religious rites in mosques. “
He warned of “the continuation of the Israeli occupation’s plans to Judaize the occupied city of Jerusalem, change its features, and obliterate its true identity.”
He emphasized that “the excavation work under the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings and in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities, especially the so-called Israeli Antiquities Authority, pose a serious threat to the mosque in light of the ongoing Israeli occupation attempts to Judaize Jerusalem.”
