Some residents of Wuhan, which a year ago became the epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic, said that they now wear masks constantly, and are afraid of contracting the common flu, although no new cases of Covid have been recorded since May.
“I live in Wuhan, but at that time I returned with my mother to my hometown, and my father stayed here in Wuhan, and the city was isolated after that. We were very worried about my father,” said Sun Shi, a girl living in Wuhan. The first news of the outbreak appeared, everyone rushed to buy food, and it was almost impossible to buy practically anything. Then the government reassured everyone, asked not to panic, and began providing food to the townspeople.
She indicated that the authorities were spraying city streets and apartment doors with sterile materials. In March, doctors allowed residents to leave their homes. “At that time, people were afraid to approach us,” the girl said.
She indicated that the residents of Wuhan felt the great support, through the help that came from all parts of China and the world.
For her part, Wang Ping, who is also a resident of Wuhan, said that she had stayed in the city throughout the entire epidemic period, and had not left her home for three months, and volunteers were bringing food to the door. According to her, the entire population has made the utmost efforts to overcome the epidemic.
She said, “It seems to me that things are back as they were before, only we wear masks and we no longer suffer from colds as before. Of course, wearing a mask is different, but now we are afraid of catching a cold, because the high temperature is a problem.”
Another girl from Wuhan advised residents of different cities around the world to stay home as much as possible. “We stayed at home for the full 3 months, and it was not even possible to cross the doorstep. By staying at home, we make a small contribution to improving the epidemic situation. Everyone should work together to confront the epidemic,” she said.
