The Israeli occupation, through its media and a number of its officials, insists on evoking the scene of the 1948 Nakba in their dealings with the scenes of the displacement of Palestinians from the north. Gaza strip To the south, which sparked different reactions on social media.
The scene of the displacement of thousands of Palestinians from the north of the Gaza Strip to its south has become recurring under the continuous brutal Israeli bombardment, and the targeting of civilians by the occupation soldiers participating in the ground operation, in light of the tragic conditions for the displaced, as well as tens of thousands of those clinging to staying in the north of the Gaza Strip and Gaza City.
Over the past few days, clips have spread on social media platforms showing hundreds of Gazans heading south, raising their hands and waving white flags, on a harsh exodus on foot for long distances and longer hours.
The spokesman for the occupation army, Avichai Adraee, publishes daily reports asking the residents of northern Gaza to continue their displacement towards the south, the last of which read: “The IDF informs you of the necessity of urgently evacuating your residential areas in order to preserve your safety.”
But what Adraee claims to be a safe road was bombed several times, and the southern areas of the Gaza Strip, such as Khan Yunis and the Rafah camp, were subjected to repeated attacks by Israeli forces, leaving hundreds of martyrs and wounded dead.
In this context, Israeli Minister of Agriculture Avi Dichter described the process of population displacement to the southern Gaza Strip as the “Gaza Nakba 2023,” which reinforces the beliefs and fears of many Palestinians – who were forced to leave their homes – that they will not be allowed to return, as happened to their ancestors in the 1948 war.
Planted in Gaza
The Shabakat program (11/14/2023) monitored some of the interaction of Arab tweeters with the Israeli insistence on evoking the scene of the 1948 Nakba, including what Tweet wrote: “This, which he calls the Gaza Nakba 2023, has opened the basis of the Palestinian issue file again at the level of the entire world.”
While Ahmed Ubaida wrote, “The Nakba this time is your catastrophe, and the tents of your settlers bear witness to that. As for the people of Gaza, they are fighting on their land,” and Adel tweeted, “In the first Nakba, there were no youth to resist the barbaric occupation, but today there are Palestinian youth who believe in their rights… and defend them.”
While Muhammad said, “The residents were forced to flee after cutting off water and fuel and bombing hospitals in order to protect children and the elderly from the barbarism of the cowards. As for the resistance, it is planted in the ground, waiting for any coward to enter so that it can take revenge on him and pay the account for his crimes.”
Returning to the statements of Israeli officials, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich goes further than simply demanding that the Gazans undergo internal displacement, as he said, “The voluntary migration of Gaza Arabs to the countries of the world is the correct humanitarian solution.”
But these statements angered the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu He warned his ministers and officials by saying, “You should not say anything if you do not know the impact of this… Every word has its weight in terms of Israel’s media position in the world.”
