On Saturday, the far-right Dutch “Freedom Party” presented a controversial new “initiative” to establish a ministry that would take over the task of “de-Islamization” in the country.
This initiative came as part of a more than 50-page electoral program published today by the PVV party led by right-wing MP Geert Wilders.
This document affirms the party’s endeavor to “limit the spread of Islamic ideology” in the Netherlands and close the borders to “looking for good fortune” and immigrants from Muslim countries, in addition to withdrawing residency permits granted to Syrian refugees.
In its program, the party demanded the establishment of a “Ministry of Immigration, Reverse Immigration and De-Islamization”, stressing the need to deny holders of dual nationality the right to vote.
The party’s program includes an article calling for holding ceremonies to raise the Dutch flag daily in the country’s schools and forbidding any Islamic educational programs, despite the preservation of Article 23 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of private education.
The party seeks, according to its program, to increase the number of police officers by 10,000 and to deploy the army “when necessary” with the aim of “restoring the streets.”
