The ministry stated – in a statement carried by the British newspaper “The Guardian” on its website – that “the worrying situation facing the medical emergency sector is partly caused by sick leaves that workers in the health sector take due to infection with the Coronavirus.”
The newspaper indicated that the Dutch government had announced January 8 as the date for the start of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19, and thus it would be the last European country to start vaccination.
The newspaper pointed out that the first batches of vaccination were to be allocated to health workers in places such as nursing homes for the elderly, but not emergency health workers.
