Dutch media reported that clashes broke out between police officers and demonstrators against the curfew imposed in the country to contain the Corona virus, in the cities of Eindhoven and Amsterdam.
Devolkskrant reported that a number of demonstrators had looted a number of shops in Eindhoven.
“The mayors and police strictly dealt with rioters was right,” said Dutch Minister of Justice and Security Fred Graberhaus.
He added: “The unrest has nothing to do with demonstrating against Corona’s policy. Rather, this is criminal behavior, as some people deliberately target police, journalists and aid workers.”
The curfew began in the Netherlands on Saturday evening, leading to protests against the measures in the streets of Urk and Stein to protest against the measure.
