Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s ubiquitous adviser during the Republican administration, has stepped aside from politics to dive into finance. The businessman, married to Ivanka, Trump’s daughter, plans to open a Miami-based investment firm, according to local media. In addition, he is working on a book about his experience in the White House that Broadside Books – the conservative arm of the mega-publishing house HarperCollins – plans to launch in 2022. Among the wave of publications of former Trump employees, the issue of Kushner has attracted special interest because it is the vision of in-law, who in his thirties assumed a strategic position during the four years of the Trump Administration without having any political or diplomatic experience.
One of the first signs that the businessman’s new course was in the opposite direction to Washington came in late February. Donald Trump was preparing his reappearance after the chaotic exit from the White House at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida. Among the advisers who collaborated to build the speech in which Trump would once again stir up the ghosts of unfounded electoral fraud and leave the door open to a presidential re-nomination did not include his faithful advisor and director of his successful 2016 campaign and the failed one in 2020: Jared Kushner. His son-in-law was in Miami, with his family nucleus, where he remained until this summer.
Born rich, Kushner (New Jersey, 1981) comes from a powerful background, but not from establishment politician. Before entering the White House, he was CEO of his family’s real estate empire, Kushner Companies, for nearly a decade. His father, company tycoon and founder Charles Kushner, was found guilty in 2005 of tax evasion, illegal campaign finance and obstruction of justice. He served two years in prison before being released during Trump’s latest big round of pardons.
Now, far from the sewers of Washington, the Harvard graduate wants to open his own investment company, Affinity Partners, Reuters and CNN report. The anonymous sources cited by the media did not have details about potential investors, how much capital it intends to raise and clarified that the company is still in the planning phase. Your vast connections with foreign entrepreneurs and Wall Street executives can help you make this new start.
While finalizing his return to the private sector, Kushner has spent six months writing his experiences in the Trump Administration. When the publisher released the news in mid-June, it promised that the book “will be the Administration’s definitive and complete account and the truth about what happened behind closed doors.” The memoirs do not yet have a title and are scheduled to be published early next year. According to a source cited by CNN, the businessman signed a “seven-figure” contract.

Unlike the many authors who have published books on the Trump era – some with contributions from the former president himself – Kushner belongs to the Republican’s innermost circle and was part of the Administration from day one to the last. In addition, he was involved in the main government tasks: from the migration crisis to relations with China, through criminal justice reform, trade agreements between Mexico and Canada and mediation between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that it ended with a peace pact and the establishment of diplomatic relations. He was even part of the coronavirus pandemic management team, albeit from a remote location after, just two months after the start of the health crisis, he called the White House response a “great success story.”
While Kushner’s path is away from politics, it is not from Donald Trump. His family spends the summer at an exclusive golf club in Bedminster (New Jersey) owned by the Republican, where he has also settled in recent months, since Mar-a-Lago usually closes the summer months, low season given the high temperatures that Florida reaches. Like his son-in-law, the ex-president is also writing his memoirs. As he has said repeatedly, it will be “the book of all books.” However, none of the major publishing houses have wanted to offer you a contract until now.
