Former US President Donald Trump
The New York Times, citing sources in the administration of former US President Donald Trump, said that the latter had planned in recent weeks to replace the Justice Minister with another person loyal to changing the election results.
The same sources said that Trump had planned with Jeffrey Clark, a Justice Department official, to remove Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen and appoint another person more loyal, with the aim of canceling the presidential election results in Georgia.
According to the sources, one of the main reasons that prompted Trump to change his mind was the decision by employees of the Justice Department to resign en masse in the event of Rosen’s removal.
Trump did not admit defeat in the US presidential election in November, declared victory and tried to challenge the results in court.
