The back injury suffered by the Denver Nuggets player, Michael Porter Jr., this Saturday during the celebration of the match against the Houston Rockets will keep him out of the game for the “near future”, according to the media. The Athletic.
The head coach Michael Malone has shared the method of action that the medical body will follow with him and assured that they will be very careful with his recovery. In fact, the coach claimed that the player will undergo further testing before making more decisions and offering an accurate schedule.
The forward, 23, was starring in a fairly discreet start to the season after renewing by the maximum at the end of last September. In the nine games played, he has barely averaged 9.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in 29.4 minutes when his numbers rose to 19.0 points and 7.3 rebounds in 31.3 minutes last season.
Back problems comprise a troubling point in the history of Porter Jr., who has already undergone two surgeries in that area. In fact, this ailment kept him in dry dock during what must have been his first year in the NBA.
However, in the franchise they trust that the player does not need to undergo surgery and that he can return at some point in the season. Mind you, Porter Jr. will not wear shorts again until the pain subsides and the Nuggets are completely confident that his back is structurally sound.
Those of Colorado already counted on the absence of Jamal Murray and this new loss supposes a very hard blow for the aspirations of the team. It all depends on how long Porter Jr.’s absence finally lasts. “He could be back in a week. Or it could be more than that. Right now we don’t know, ”Malone said.
