At 3 a.m. local time today, “The Central Operations Room in Cairo Governorate received a notification of the collapse of a building consisting of a basement, floor, and 9 repeated floors on“ Al-Barajah ”Street, Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Division, next to Omar Bin Al-Khattab Metro Station, Suez Bridge (Al-Salam District 1), The 10-storey residential building collapsed, and 40 ambulances took the injured to two hospitals in the area.
The accident resulted in the death of 5 people and the injury of 24 others, while the search continues.
The governor of Cairo decided to form an engineering committee to inspect the neighboring properties and indicate their vulnerability to the collapse, with the waste resulting from the accident removed as soon as the Public Prosecution finishes the inspection.
