Last week, Senator Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas took advantage of her participation in the forum called Dialogues for Mexico, which took place in the Plutarco Elías Calles auditorium of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, to sign up for the list of candidates to raise the candidacy presidential not only of his party, but of a broad coalition. She assured that she is ready to serve Mexico and that she is not afraid to lead a plural project for which she proposed an alliance with the PAN, the PRD and Movimiento Ciudadano.

The current 50-year-old senator, from the capital, with a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana, a specialty in Political Science from the Center for Political and Constitutional Studies in Madrid, Spain, and a doctorate in Public Law and Legal Philosophy from the Autonomous University of the aforementioned capital of Spain, expressed her desire to be a candidate with an inclusive speech: “I want to lead the project of the PRI members who are here and those who have already left; of the PAN members who want an honest and generous country; of the PRD supporters who uphold the causes of justice and democracy; of the emecistas who make fresh and avant-garde politics. Of all the millions who are not members of any party, of civil society that demands change, justice and more transparent politicians”. In addition to being inclusive, her speech was flattering to the point of hyperbole. Where are the PAN members who want an honest and generous country? Where are the PRD supporters who uphold the causes of justice and democracy? What makes you think that in Movimiento Ciudadano fresh and avant-garde politics is done?

Although exaggeratedly flattering, Claudia showed that politics is in her blood, with a quality, at least rhetorical, that not all politicians have —and even less the PRI—, she practices self-criticism: she raised the need for the tricolor with humility and good sense regains the confidence of the citizenry. “We must honor the word and recognize our mistakes. In reality, the Dialogues for Mexico forum became the runway for six distinguished PRI members —as the classic said— who expressed their desire to represent their party as candidates for the highest office. Without knowing what mechanism the PRI is going to use to designate its candidate for the presidency —they lack the faithfulness of the balance— let us suppose that Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas, was designated candidate for the presidential position by the broad coalition of which her party —the PRI — is part and that in Morena, as columnist Hernán Gómez assures, it is a fact that Claudia Sheinbaum will be the candidate approved from the summit of power, a confrontation between women in 2024 would be interesting —also namesakes—.
