US Defense Department officials said on Tuesday that dozens of National Guard members have been removed from service to help secure the vetting of President-elect Joe Biden.
And US media reported that National Guard members were examined for possible links to right-wing extremism.
A Pentagon spokesman said the examination went beyond ties to extremist groups.
General Daniel Hukanson, head of the National Guard’s office, added to reporters that one National Guard member was removed from service after disturbing text messages, and another was reported via the extension line.
