The US Secretary of Defense issued Lloyd Austin A memorandum to the American forces, in which he confirmed that the Ministry of Defense (Pentagon) will complete a “calm, orderly, and professional” transition to the next administration of the President-elect Donald Trump.
According to what was published by The Hill website, K“Our citizens have elected the next President of the United States,” Austin wrote in the memo issued Wednesday. “As always, the US military will be prepared to implement the policy choices of the next Commander-in-Chief, and to obey all lawful orders from its civilian chain of command.”
The Minister of Defense added that members of the US military “will remain away from the political arena,” and will continue to defend the constitution and stand by allied and partner countries.
Austin's memorandum comes in the wake of an unprecedented victory for Republican candidate Trump, who last month indicated his openness to the idea of using the military to help maintain the law inside the country in the face of the “radical left,” as well as to carry out mass deportations of irregular immigrants.
The US President-elect's advisors are currently preparing the steps for assuming power and researching the names of candidates to assume leadership positions in the new administration, while congratulations continue to come from world leaders.
Trump told NBC on Thursday that he sees his victory over the Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris As a popular mandate to “bring common sense to the country,” he also stated that there was “no price tag” for his plan to deport irregular migrants and control the borders.
