The US Department of Defense announced that it would probably continue deploying its “B-1” strategic bombers in Norway near the Russian border, indicating that this might happen at any moment.
The Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, General Charles Brown, indicated that the “B-1” bombers “guarantee comprehensive air power” and are capable of operating “in any area and at any time.”
He continued: “You can expect it to spread anywhere and at any moment … Will this happen in Norway? This matter is possible and there is a great possibility,” stressing that this may happen “at any time” without mentioning any specific date.
On February 2, the United States announced the deployment of strategic “B-1B Lancer” bombers on Norwegian territory for the first time, indicating that the bombers would be stationed at the “Orlando” base within a month.
Commenting on this step, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that it considers it a “threat to security in the region,” as the talk is about increasing the military capabilities of the West near the Russian border.
