The first month of the regular season has not yet passed, but there are already several teams that have begun to ponder some important change at the level of squad making.
In his last newsletter, the journalist Marc Stein has shared an information that affirms that the Detroit Pistons have shown interest in Marvin Bagley III, player of the Sacramento Kings. Already last March, both franchises held talks inside, although on that occasion it would be those from California who offered it in exchange for Saddiq Bey. A proposal rejected outright by those in Michigan.
Bagley was selected in second place in the 2018 draft, but constant physical problems and the recent rise of other young pieces of the roster they have been displacing it towards a secondary role. In fact, the start of the Kings campaign was not without controversy after the Kings informed the player that he would not be part of the rotation during the first stages of it.
Since then, the power forward has only participated in one game this season, registering ten minutes of action on October 22 during the match against the Utah Jazz. Other information earlier this week suggested the 22-year-old refused to join team discipline for Monday’s game against the Phoenix Suns after receiving a call from manager Luke Walton.
While the Kings appear poised to close a trade for Bagley, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, Stein says it is unlikely that it will come before Dec. 15, the date after which more players they will be available to be involved in an operation.
It’s unclear what pieces the Pistons would be willing to give up for Bagley and his $ 11 million salary. Kelly Olynyk seems unlikely to enter the equation after signing a three-year, $ 37 million deal this summer. Thus, the most likely is to put together a package that includes players like Cory Joseph, Killian Hayes, Hamidou Diallo or Josh Jackson.
