Australians are remembering McDonald’s retro menu items amid calls for the restaurant to return their favourite childhood snacks.

Emma Cooper, 19, from Melbourne, has pleaded with the fast food chain to bring back the cult favourite Pasta Zoo Happy Meal and limited edition McFlurry flavours of bubblegum and brownie.

The nostalgic animal shaped ravioli stuffed with cheese and vegetables launched in 2007 and gave children their own tongs to coat their food in a special dipping sauce.

Emma is also calling for the limited edition bubble gum flavoured McFlurry to return to stores

While the healthier happy meal option was a hit, the snack was later dropped nationwide in 2008 due to poor sales.

In a series of TikToks titled: ‘Five Australian childhood foods that I think would stop the pandemic if they started making them again’, Emma pleads for the menu item to return.

‘A classic obviously is Maccas pasta… this is the best food they’ve ever served,’ she said.

Along with the Pasta Zoo, Emma said she wanted McDonald’s bubblegum McFlurry to make a comeback to stores.

‘The old McFlurries with the bubblegum and the brownie one and you could mix and match the toppings,’ she described.

Other Australians have previously campaigned for the two menu items to return  with multiple change.org petitions receiving thousands of online signatures.

The trip down memory lane left other Australians craving the discontinued meals.

‘The Maccas pasta unlocked a memory I forgot I had,’ one woman said.

‘With the Maccas pasta you got like milk with the flavoured straw. So good,’ another wrote.

‘Yes I loved the bubblegum McFlurry so much,’ one commented.

Other Australian classic snacks Emma listed that should return included chicken flavoured Dixie Drumstix biscuits and Go-Gurts – flavoured yoghurts packed inside plastic tubes.
